Dan was born in the UK but a passion for mountain life soon found him leaving his engineering background in England and setting up in British Columbia, Canada. In the resort town of Whistler he turned to photography as a full time career and quickly made a name for himself amongst the action sports community, shooting alongside many of the worlds best athletes. Dan’s editorial images have appeared in magazines from Japan to the USA and everywhere in between and his commercial work is used by brands such as Nike, Red Bull and Oakley. He splits his time between shooting editorial, commercial and fine art work as well as running his educational photography business, Shutter Muse, which aims to teach other photographers through seminars, magazine articles and contributions to several industry websites like Canon’s own Learning Centre. In 2013 Dan was a finalist in the prestigious Red Bull Illume contest but whilst probably best known for his action imagery, he spends just as much time aiming his camera at wildlife and rugged landscapes these days.

An interesting fact: The mountain bike image in this gallery is actually a self-portrait. Dan triggered a remote camera and flash whilst riding his bike down the rock face using a handlebar mounted trigger switch!
